Welcome to Cancer Ward 12

The Cancer Ward 12 Artist in Residency project draws on literature (1) and on life. It involves my  ‘immersion’ into the day-to-day life on the Oncology Ward of Singleton Hospital in Swansea, which is a thirty bed, general oncology/haematology ward where patients with a variety of cancers and disease related symptoms are treated and cared for. Treatment may include chemotherapy, radiotherapy and symptom control, and ranges from radical management to palliative care. The work done on this this residency will be documented here throughout the life of the project and the final public art exhibition will be launched  as part of the international Storytelling for Health Conference in Swansea in June 2017.

Please click on the ‘About’ page for more details of the project itself and on the ‘Blog’ page for continuing documentation throughout.

I would like to thank  Prue Thimbleby, Arts in Health Co-ordinator, the ABMU (Abertawe Bro Morgannwg University Health Board) and all of the patients and staff at Singleton hospital in Swansea for their support for this project.

All comments/feedback about the project are welcome. Email Jac at: jacsaorsa@hotmail.com or please feel free to contact me through the ‘Contact’ page
